Plymouth Hospitals and Dorset County Hospital are the latest NHS organisations to utilise Academy’s
Assessment expertise
The Department of Health and the NHS are, more than ever before, committed to evaluating and demonstrating the benefit of the work they do. Every NHS organisation and every delivery programme must clearly show the impact it is having across a range of performance metrics to diverse stakeholders.
A key to delivering essential service levels is to ensure that the right staff are in place at the right time with the right abilities and the right potential.
Academy’s work within the NHS includes advising on a wide range of tools and techniques to assess ability, personality and potential with the option of assessment panel support. We also provide candidates with development-focussed feedback ensuring that the selection process is seen as open and fair whatever the outcome.
In selecting Academy HR as their assessment partner NHS organisations value the independence, expertise and value for money service we offer.
HR manager Janet Polson commented,"Academy have used their assessment expertise to help us fill senior posts and maintain excellent PR with candidates by providing a cost-effective feedback service. The global financial crisis has put Nationwides mutuality in a new light and with a small exposure to the troubled wholesale markets it is well placed to benefit from the crisis at the expense of its damaged rivals, recently acquiring both the Cheshire and Derbyshire building societies. The resulting people management stategies are utilising a combination of experienced permanent HR staff and strategic interim support and Academy have already supplied both of these categories to Nationwide.
Academy have experienced a significant increase in demand for experienced Interim Managers during 2008.Interims used to be thought of as a last resort - someone to fill a vacancy at short notice. Such roles are now in the minority," says Academy director Paul Clark. "Today, assignments are much more likely to be within change programmes and project management. Many organisations are going through rapid periods of change, whether downsizing or growth. There's a big need for senior level HR people to help manage that process." He also notes an increase in demand for functional specialists. "As HR is more project driven it makes good sense to engage an expert for a specific need for a defined period."
Academy are always interested in talking and meeting with experienced interims and those considering the interim option
